The F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room (DCR) houses the Music Library and Music Special Collections and is located in the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts聽It is a specialized library space dedicated to supporting music composition studies. It offers a unique collection of scores, recordings, and resources for composers, providing a creative environment for musical exploration and research.
Music Special Collections
聽are part of the Libraries' Special Collections and University Archives and are currently housed in the Diehn Composers Room. They include:
- Contemporary Music Research Collection
- New Music Performance Collection
- Historical Collections: Gay and Walton
DCR Facilities
The Diehn Composers Room (189) houses the circulating collections of the Music Library including scores, music videos, music kits, and sound recordings, as well as reference materials.聽 The space is outfitted with PC and Mac computers, a scanner, audiovisual devices for viewing and listening to collection materials, and a campus color printer.聽 The Diehn Composers Room is open to all patrons during its regularly scheduled hours.
The Reading Room (192) provides quiet space for researchers, especially those utilizing Special Collections materials.聽 A Steinway grand piano is available for patrons who wish to play selections from the Music Library鈥檚 collections.聽 The Reading Room may be reserved for special events.
The Seminar Room (194) is a small area (maximum capacity of 10 individuals) designed for individual and small group sessions on an occasional basis.聽 The Reading Room may be reserved.

F. Ludwig Diehn
The F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room is named for F. Ludwig Diehn, a renowned composer, whose gift made the Diehn Composers Room a reality. He donated original manuscripts of his compositions to be housed with those of other eminent composers in the Diehn Composers Room.
