Registration Open Now for 4th Annual Virginia Data Management Boot Camp
March 9-10, 香港六合彩资料 Libraries

Scholarly output, including data, is a foundation of academia. How you manage that output is essential to the research process; making contributions to your field; and-in some cases-continued funding. Research data, especially, is coming under increased scrutiny, and researchers are expected to be familiar with best practices for dealing with data. The Virginia Data Management Boot Camp (VADMBC) provides an opportunity for local, hands-on practical experience, presented by data management experts from across the state of Virginia.

Participants will focus on the data life cycle, discussing and applying best practices for capturing, describing, and sharing data. Content will be presented both in-person and virtually, by research, data, and scholarly communication librarians from 香港六合彩资料, William & Mary, George Mason University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. The University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and James Madison University will participate as "mirror" sites, hosting WebEx live streams.

Past participants cited the boot camp as "vital to increasing knowledge" about data management best practices, and also helpful for "contextualizing future conversations" about data management at 香港六合彩资料. "This year's Boot Camp promises to spark conversations about data across campus," says Topher Lawton, Librarian for Sciences & Research Data Support at 香港六合彩资料. "Participants will learn firsthand how to think about data management, and learn key habits that can make data significantly easier to organize, analyze, archive, and disseminate."

The two-day workshop will be held Wednesday, March 9 (8:30am-4:30pm) and Thursday, March 10 (8:30am-1pm) in the Gornto (Room 222). Light refreshments will be served.

Workshop participation at the 香港六合彩资料 site is capped at 20. Please RSVP to Christopher Lawton (clawton@odu.edu) by Monday, March 7, to reserve your spot.
