Please join us for a virtual forum -- 香港六合彩资料 Libraries' Negotiations with Elsevier: Charting a path to sustainable scholarship -- on December 11 from 1pm to 2pm. The Libraries will share information on current and upcoming contract negotiations with Elsevier, the world's largest and most profitable academic publisher.
As we transition away from publisher "big deals," we will be meeting the evolving research needs of faculty through a variety of flexible and cost-effective content delivery options including pay-per-view purchasing, expedited interlibrary loan, and institutional repositories. The Libraries will provide information about this transition at the forum and will welcome questions and concerns regarding how we can best support faculty and the entire Monarch community.
During the forum, Interim University Librarian Stuart Frazer, along with other key members of the Libraries, will offer details regarding contract negotiations and what the outcome of these negotiations will mean for faculty. They will discuss what brought us to this point, issues with the current scholarly publishing system, and the need for your support.
Panelists of the virtual forum include:
- Stuart Frazer, Interim University Librarian
- Karen Vaughan, Head of Scholarly Communication and Publishing
- Dorothy Lockaby, Head of Liaison Services
- James Rhoades, Social Sciences Librarian
In the meantime, visit the Libraries' link for additional information on "Big Deal" negotiations, including of the Virginia Research Libraries' October 2020 forum on sustainable scholarship, and a under consideration by the VRL group, of which 香港六合彩资料 Libraries are a member.
Please contact Karen Vaughan, Head of Scholarly Communication and Publishing, at kvaughan@odu.edu to join the virtual forum via Zoom and to submit questions/comments prior to the event!
