We ask all students, faculty, staff and visitors to stay alert during the construction of the new Biological Sciences building. You will need to plan for extra time to get to various locations in the heart of campus during construction. The construction zone will encompass the area from Oceanography and Physical Sciences at the pond bridge and extend east to the Elizabeth River Trail. The site will extend from the MagLev south through the space between Physical Science and the Mills-Goodwin Buildings. 听Additionally, construction activities will occupy the oval between Perry Library and Engineering Systems Building.
Your safety is our top priority, and we ask that you visit this site often for construction updates and prepare for extra time to get to your various destinations around campus.听
Project Stages
Fencing will be erected around the perimeter of the entire project and construction laydown area beginning sometime in late spring 2025. Refer to the map below for the extent of construction fencing. Click on the map to zoom in.
Demolition Updates:
Once demolition has been completed in the summer of 2025, construction will commence with pile driving operations followed by concrete structural frame erection.听
