In recent years, activists from the American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT), a grassroots disability rights organization with chapters in 30 states, have made headlines for protests that helped stop the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Interviewed by "With Good Reason" host Sarah McConnell, Osorio explained that ADAPT's tactics fit into a long history of disability activism in the U.S., from the 504 occupation in 1977 to the now popular Twitter feed #actuallyautistic.
