Graphic Design Technology & Resources

Technology

The graphic design classrooms and production labs are housed in dedicated facilities in the Barry Arts Building. Our classrooms and labs provide access to state of the art tools and processes for producing work. The graphic design computer lab is equipped with Apple computers and industry standard software for print and digital production.

Upon completion of GDES 365 Basic Typography, students are required to purchase a Mac or PC laptop for upper level coursework. Educational discounts are available.

Required Equipment:

  • Change to "Minimum 13" Mac or PC laptop capable of running听

Recommended Equipment:

  • External USB-C hard drive

PC vs Mac

Macs are still the industry standard in the graphic design profession. An additional concern for students in the program is compatibility and workflow. All the external services and resources in the classrooms utilize the MacOS system. Students with a PC may encounter an additional layer of complication in their workflow. Finally, neither the graphic design faculty or staff offer support for PCs.
