About this Program

The Bachelor of Science in Park, Recreation, and Tourism Studies with a concentration in Tourism & Hospitality Management prepares students for careers as working in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry, as well as festival and event planning. Students take classes with experienced industry professionals, complete a practicum prior to their internship, and have the opportunity to attend conferences such as the VA-1 Tourism Summit and the Virginia Green Travel Alliance Conference.

Program Highlights

  • Tourism & Hospitality Management students engage in service learning activities such as volunteering with the Virginia International Tattoo Festival and other area events.

  • Students gain industry experience through a practicum with a travel or tourism organization before their final internship.

  • Students have the opportunity to take classes with industry professionals who have years of experience planning and executing meetings, festivals, and events.
