About this Program

The coursework in the Bachelor of Science in Physical Education  addresses a wide range of content and skill areas such as physical education pedagogy, teaching of sports, motor development, motor learning, exercise science, biomechanics, and health education. A total of 120 semester hours is required in the baccalaureate degree program in physical education and health, which leads to initial teacher licensure in Virginia upon passage of the PRAXIS I, PRAXIS II, and completion of the culminating experience of the teacher candidate internship.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Physical Education, Teaching Licensure at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ?
Students entering the Bachelor of Science program in Physical Education, Teaching Licensure should meet the minimum university admission requirements Undergraduate Admission.
  • All students must apply for and be admitted into the approved Health and Physical Education teacher preparation program. Students must meet the required criteria for admission by passing the Virginia Board of Education Prescribed Entry Assessments and earn the minimum required grade point averages (GPA).

  •   must be passed with a grade of C or higher, and all other Health and Physical education courses must be passed with a grade of C- or higher.

  • All professional education courses must be passed with a grade of C- or higher.
