About this Program

The Department of Women’s and Gender Studies is a multi- and interdisciplinary field of study that examines the complex intersections of gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, nation, and other identities, with an emphasis on women’s lives and perspectives. A degree in Women's Studies centers the complex intersections of gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, nation, and other identities. By the time they complete their degrees, our students are subject experts in the areas of gender, intersectionality, and equity, with an understanding of what it takes to empower themselves and others to become change makers. The linked program in Women's Studies and Humanities allows students to fast-track into an interdisciplinary graduate program that prepares students to work with diverse populations, with an understanding of what it takes to empower themselves and others to become change makers. Department faculty work closely with students to help them learn how to engage in complex problem solving; connect with others across differences; and engage diverse communities.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Women's Studies and Humanities at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ?
Students entering the Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's of Art Program program in Women's Studies and Humanities should meet the minimum university admission requirements Undergraduate Admission.

To declare a Women's Studies major, students must see and advisor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies. All Women's Studies majors are required to have a conference with their advisor before each semester (preferably during preregistration). The linked program in Women's Studies and Humanities makes it possible for exceptional Women's Studies majors to count up to 12 hours of graduate courses toward both an undergraduate and graduate degree. Students must earn a minimum of 150 credit hours (120 discrete credit hours for the undergraduate degree and 30 discrete credit hours for the graduate degree).
